In this month's faith & family news, the Bible Roundtables are finally coming to The Chosen app, and Hallmark Channel partners with the NFL for a Chiefs-themed Christmas.
Gather 'Round the (Bible Round)Table
After a long wait, caused by legal issues, for season 4 of the New Testament drama The Chosen to arrive on The Chosen app after its theatrical run, now the Bible Roundtables are finally arriving. The series does one Roundtable to accompany each episode in a season.
In a livestream on Sunday, June 23, series creator Dallas Jenkins announced that the first two will drop on The Chosen app on Sunday, July 7, with episodes 3-8 premiering on subsequent Sundays. This year's Roundtables were filmed at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C.
In all but one season, FTP's National Director, Father David Guffey, C.S.C., has participated in the Roundtables (Bishop Robert Barron stepped in for him for season two). He's also acted as a script consultant for the show.
Along with Jenkins, an Evangelical, who acts as the moderator, joining him are Messianic Rabbi Jason Sobel and Evangelical scholar Dr. Douglas Huffman. Together, they offer varied perspectives on the cultural and theological issues raised in each episode.
For last month's news blog, regarding the announcement of the season 4 streaming premiere date, Father Guffey said:
"I can't wait to share 'The Chosen 'with all my friends who love the show," says Father Guffey. "This is such a powerful season."
Father Guffey also attended the first ChosenCon, and will attend the next fan convention, taking place Sept. 20-21 in Orlando, Florida.

It's a Chiefs Christmas at Hallmark
Hallmark Channel is joining forces with the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, the NFL, and Skydance Sports -- a division of Skydance Media, founded by David Ellison, son of Oracle founder Larry Ellison -- for a holiday movie shot entirely in the Missouri city, also home to Hallmark's corporate offices.
From the inbox:
Tyler Hynes ('Shifting Gears,' 'Three Wise Men and a Baby'), Hunter King ('Two Scoops Of Italy,' 'The Santa Summit') and Ed Begley Jr. ('Young Sheldon,' 'Better Call Saul') star in the new, original movie Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story. The movie begins production next month and will film entirely in Kansas City, Missouri, locations, including the iconic GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, marking the first time the loudest stadium in the world has been used as a filming location in a Hallmark movie.
“With Hallmark and the Kansas City Chiefs both homegrown, rooted in values, tradition and community, there is a special alchemy between these two iconic organizations,” said Darren Abbott, Chief Brand Officer, Hallmark. “By blending the warmth of Hallmark storytelling with the excitement of professional football, we are thrilled to give audiences a front-row seat to this community's spirit, rich traditions and passionate fans that define Kansas City, all wrapped up in the comforting and uplifting Hallmark way.”
“We are honored to partner with Hallmark on a project as unique as this,” Chiefs President Mark Donovan said. “As a club, we pride ourselves on exploring new ways to grow our brand, as well as connect with new audiences. This partnership unites two passionate fanbases and gives us an opportunity to show Chiefs Kingdom’s energy and tradition on one of the most-watched channels during the holiday season.”
In Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story, Alana Higman (King) is sure that her family’s lifelong history as Kansas City Chiefs superfans makes them a frontrunner to win the team’s “Fan of the Year” contest. Derrick (Hynes), Director of Fan Engagement, is tasked with evaluating how Alana and her family stack up against the other two finalists.
As the pair spends time together, it’s clear there’s a spark between them, but when her grandfather's (Begley Jr.) vintage Chiefs good-luck winter hat goes missing, Alana begins to doubt everything she believed about fate, destiny, and even questions her future with Derrick -– unless, that is, a little Christmas magic can throw a Hail Mary.
The media has focused a lot of attention on Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and his romance with pop superstar Taylor Swift. But while Hallmark promises a lot of promotion for this film, there's no word yet whether either of the lovebirds will make an appearance.
Obviously, there's no trailer yet for the new film, but back in January, the Chiefs celebrated a 9th consecutive time playing in the postseason with a fake trailer for a Hallmark-ish film called Falling for Football. It even stars Tyler Hines (and features an appearance by Travis' mom, Donna).
Looks like this imaginary showbiz partnership is about to come true. But, in the meantime, here's the fake trailer for the Hallmark-ish film, produced and released by the Chiefs:
