Bishop Barron Celebrates Gothic Cathedrals

From the inbox:

Word on Fire Catholic Ministries and Fathom Entertainment, the leading specialty distributor of theatrical content worldwide, announced Bishop Robert Barron’s Heaven in Stone and Glass, a new feature documentary offering an immersive cinematic exploration of five of France’s most iconic Gothic cathedrals and the spiritual meaning embedded within them. This film is coming to theatres nationwide on September 20 and 23, 2026.

On April 15, 2019, the world watched in horror as flames erupted from the rafters of Notre-Dame Cathedral—an event that captivated global audiences and ignited an overwhelming response of loss, awe, and shared cultural grief. Why did the threat to this sacred space resonate so deeply, even among those with no religious affiliation?

Bishop Robert Barron returns to France to answer this question, taking the viewer on a cinematic pilgrimage. Produced in collaboration with Spirit Juice Studios, Heaven in Stone and Glass marks a historic milestone: Word on Fire’s first-ever theatrical release. ...

“In our spiritually hungry time, the cathedrals can do what they have always done for those who are open,” said Bishop Barron. “They reveal divine treasures that our secular world has forgotten.”

Celebrating the Sacred Heart of Jesus on Film

This June, a month dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a new film -- made by a former boy-band member and his wife -- is talking about just that.

From the inbox:

Following its breakout success in France, Sacred Heart: His Reign Has No End is a cinematic exploration of the 350-year-old devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, inspired by the 17th-century apparitions to the French Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque.

Blending historical reenactments with insights from priests, nuns, historians and theologians, alongside modern-day testimonies, the film reveals the enduring spiritual significance and transformative power of this devotion.

Directed by Steven and Sabrina Gunnell, the film has drawn nearly one million viewers across Europe and will be presented in both English-dubbed and Spanish-language versions for U.S. audiences, as detailed below.

  • Tuesday, June 9 – English dubbed
  • Wednesday, June 10 – Spanish dubbed with English subtitles
  • Thursday, June 11 – English dubbed
  • Sunday, June 14 – English dubbed

Following the feature, audiences will experience a special bonus presentation featuring U.S. clergy and faith leaders (Archbishop Paul Coakley, Fr. Chris Alar, MIC and Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly) discussing the devotion and the planned consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Exploring The Story of Everything

Currently in theaters through at least May 17, from Fathom, the documentary The Story of Everything comes from filmmakers Brian Bird (When Calls the Heart) and Lee Strobel, who teamed previously on the film version of Strobel's book The Case for Christ.

Backed by Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture, a Christian think tank, it includes interviews with Catholic philosopher Jay Richards, mathematician/bioethicist John Lennox, and entrepreneur Peter Thiel.

The film seeks to demonstrate the scientific evidence for the existence of God.

From CatholicVote.org:

Investigative journalist Lee Strobel, who wrote The Case for Christ, is an executive producer for the film.

“I’ve spent decades investigating whether belief in God stands up to scrutiny,” Strobel said. “What makes The Story of Everything compelling is its focus on scientific evidence and its invitation for audiences to examine the data for themselves.”

The (Next) Year of Narnia

Narnia: The Magician's Nephew, filmmaker Greta Gerwig's much-discussed version of C.S. Lewis' prequel to The Chronicles of Narnia, is releasing in IMAX and standard theaters worldwide on February 12, 2027, then coming to Netflix on April 2, 2027. Sneak previews only for IMAX begin Feb. 10.

The cast includes newcomers David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell, along with Emma Mackey, Carey Mulligan, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, and Daniel Craig and Meryl Streep (rumored to be voicing Aslan, but the press materials don't specify).

Said Gerwig, “I was a child when I first read The Magician’s Nephew, and I fell in love with the gorgeously improbable but completely brilliant concept of a cosmic lion singing the world of Narnia to life.

“I didn’t know that I would grow up to make films, but a universe built out of music is an idea that always lived in my heart. It is the honor of a lifetime to be asked to imagine it into being.

"Because of C. S. Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia, I believed in magic and hidden worlds and adventure. I believed that anywhere could be enchanted and that anyone could be swept up into an epic.

"That wonder and awe was available to everyone, even ordinary people like me ... It transformed me.”

Narnia fans are very apprehensive about the adaptation, but the C.S. Lewis Company said: It’s incredibly moving to see how deeply Greta Gerwig has embraced C. S. Lewis’s world, and infused Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew with joy, heart, and genuine love for the story.

“We’re so excited for audiences everywhere to experience her vision — and to share the magic of Narnia with a whole new generation.”
