Apple TV+'s ‘Wonder Pets: In the City’ Sing & Help Animals in Need

| December 4, 2024 | By

Wonder Pets: In the City is an upgrade from the original Nickelodeon animated show that ran from 2006-2016. A new generation of kids will now enjoy this new trio of kindergarten pets, who turn into superheroes after school.

By day these three provide love to the New York City students, but when the school day is over, that’s when they truly show how much love and attention they can give.

Wonder Pets: In the City premieres December 13, 2024 on Apple TV+.

What Is Wonder Pets: In the City About?

After school the little pets get a distress call from an animal in need. They assemble in their jet-car, which sometimes gives them problems, but once assembled, they are off to different locations around the world. Before leaving, they learn about the animal in distress and the location, giving viewers a brief lesson in geography.

Unlike most preschool shows that insert songs, this show is mainly songs sung by the adorable pets: Izzy the guinea pig, Zuri the bunny, and Tate the snake, along with some of the many animals around the world that call upon the Wonder Pets for help.

It’s like a children’s opera played out with animated characters. Apple TV+ describes the series as “a musical adventure” for the whole family.

Super Powers

The Wonder Pets don’t actually have super powers. They help other animals with intelligence, kindness, and cooperation. As a team they figure out how they can get to the bottom of each problem.

Assisting Those in Need

There are many ways in which this trio helps others. Many times they work together to concoct something that will help whatever situation has arisen. And other times they simply give support and understanding to the animal in need to help him or her gain the knowledge and confidence to help themselves.

By taking lessons they have learned in their own lives they are able to relay what they learned to help themselves, or worked together to help each other. They give each other support and confidence, and in many cases that is all some animals need to help them through a tough time.

Should Parents Embrace Wonder Pets: In the City?

Wonder Pets: In the City is one of the best new pre-school show to come out in years. It features entertaining characters who are always willing to help others and learn about places and animals along the way. Each episode is like a mini opera, and even parents will be singing the theme song all the time. I cannot get it out of my head and wake up singing it.

The bottom line is it is definitely worth watching and a show young viewers will take to heart. And for those who knew the original series, this is an updated version with new animation and downright adorable characters, both in the classroom and around the world.

Apple TV+ Has More for Kids

Besides this new series, Apple TV+ is a good destination for children’s shows. Not only does is have films featuring the Peanuts gang, it also offers some entertaining and educational preschool series.

Eva the Owlet (holiday episode premieres December 13)

Eva is kind and adventurous. She keeps a diary to remember all her adventures and feeling she experienced each episode.

This show will premiere the second season January 24, 2025 and for fans there is a special holiday special titled “Eva’s Moon Wish” which will debut December 13.

Duck & Goose

Duck & Goose features two best friends whose differences don’t bother them.

Common Sense Media says,

Parents need to know that Duck & Goose is a gentle animated series based on the best-selling children's books by Tad Hills. Duck (voiced by Connor Andrade) and Goose (Jecobi Swain) are best friends who love exploring their meadow world, which changes with the seasons.

“Even though they get along, Duck and Goose see the world differently and have a lot of contrasting ideas about how things should be done. Luckily, they learn that it's OK to disagree, saying "You be you, and I'll be me," and are able to work together in the end. Parents will love the social-emotional lessons and pleasant tone, while preschoolers will enjoy the sweet adventures.

Frog and Toad

Frog and Toad are another duo of very different besties. As I wrote in an earlier blog post:

Frog and Toad are best friends, even though they are very different. These differences do not hinder their friendship. On the contrary, they use their differences to enhance their interactions.

And along with the other characters, this is a friendly little group who always enjoy each other and who work together to forge their relationships based on mutual respect, admiration and kindness.

Get Rolling with Otis

Family Choice Awards said:

Otis is a kind-hearted little tractor and always willing to go the extra mile to figure out solutions to help his friends and fellow farm pals. They all work together but once in awhile there are problems that arise that need extra attention. And it is usually Otis who works out how to solve those problems.

Sago Mini Friends

The animals in Sagoville explore and enjoy each day. With songs sprinkled in and some heartfelt thankfulness of their lives and adventures, this is a sweet series for the very young filled with imagination and love.
